Have a custom project in mind? I love those! Here are some guidelines on how I price them.
*I don't currently have the ability to digitize an image. I have a company I have worked with before that charges $20 for a small image, and I just pass that charge on to you. Once you have paid that fee, I can then embroider that image on anything in the future without paying for it again, as long as it is the same size as well. (I cannot change the size of digitized designs more than 10% in either direction, or the quality of the stitching is lost.)
* I don't need to digitize names however- I have purchased a few fonts, and you can just select which one you would like me to use if we are just putting a name on something. There is no extra charge for that unless you have a specific font you want me to match. Then I just pass the cost of buying that specific font to you.
*Generally, putting a name on something will cost between $5-10, depending on the the size of the name and the object I am working on. Christmas Stockings are a $15 fee, however, because they are awful to get onto a hoop.
*Please do not bring me things to embroider that are irreplaceable. I am good at embroidery, but embroidery machines are known for being temperamental and some days, they just are in the mood to eat fabric. Assuming item is replaceable, I do add 5% of the item's cost into my charge as my own insurance policy. I need to be able to buy that item again if my machine got hungry that day!
Hopefully that will help you understand my method for charging custom orders! As you can see, there cannot be a flat rate for my fees, because what I am doing varies so much. But I will always give you a ballpark estimate once I see the project and know all the factors, and will always try to be fair about my costs.
